Anna (Molvig) Farstad 1910 - 2007

Anna Farstad PhotoAnna (Molvig) Farstad, 96, Minot, ND, formerly of Bottineau, died Friday, February 2, 2007, in a Minot nursing home.

Anna Molvig was born on August 2, 1910, the daughter of Ole and Caroline (Aune) Molvig in Buxton, ND. She was raised and educated in Buxton, graduating from Buxton High School. She then attended Mayville Normal School where she received her Standard Teaching Certificate.

Following her college graduation, Anna taught school at the Grubb School, north of Battleview, ND. She taught there until 1935.

Anna married Oliver Farstad on October 8, 1935, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Buxton, ND. They made their home in Battleview. She was a Postmistress for the US Postal Service from 1941 until 1958, when they moved to Bottineau, ND. Together they owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store. They remained the owners until 1972, when they retired. Oliver passed away in 1996. She continued to reside in Bottineau until 2000, when she moved to Minot. She had lived at her daughter's home, Brentmoor, Edgewood Vista, and most recently at Trinity Homes in Minot.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Bottineau, where she was active in the circle and mission quilting. She was also a member of a Bottineau homemakers group for many years.

She enjoyed needle work, especially making her beautiful hardanger. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her loving family includes: daughters, Carol (Roy) Ambli, St. Paul, MN; and Carmen (Don) Fricke, Minot; grandchildren, Don (Lisa) Ambli, Judy (Curtis) Willcox, Brian (Michele) Fricke, and Jessica Fricke; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Patrick Ambli; Emma and Cameron Willcox; and Jacob Fricke; sister, Charlotte (Orlin) Gunderson, Grand Forks, ND; sisters-in-law, Doris Molvig, Grand Forks, ND, Lorraine Molvig, Buxton, ND, and Eleanor Hanson, Minot; brother-in-law, Harold (Inga) Farstad, Minot; and several nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Caroline Molvig; husband, Oliver; and brothers, Alvin and Kenneth Molvig.

Funeral: Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot.

Funeral: Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Buxton, ND, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Visitation: Monday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: Immanuel West Cemetery, rural Buxton, ND.
