Nora O. Esterby • 1917- 2010

Nora O. Esterby, 93, Minot, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in a Minot nursing home.

Nora O. Michelson was born June 16, 1917, a daughter of  Engebret  and Ann (Templen) Michelson in Newburg, ND. She was raised and educated in rural Newburg and graduated from Newburg High School.  

On April 12, 1938, Nora was united in marriage to Arnold Esterby in Valley City, ND. They made their home in Valley City, Enderlin and Jamestown before moving to Minot in 1945. Arnold died May 31, 1972.  Nora worked as a Nursing Assistant for 22 years at Trinity Hospital.

Nora was a member of Trinity Auxiliary and First Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was active in circle, quilting and doing volunteer work. She also enjoyed making lefse.

                Children: Mavis (Ed) Sklebar, West Fargo, ND, Arnold (Cheryl) Esterby, Fargo, ND, Patricia (Leo) Schmitt, Laurel, MT, Dianne (Ervin) Stute, Clearwater, MN, David (Carol) Esterby, Chanhassen, MN, Kathy (Gordon) Stein, Des Lacs, ND, Karen (Roy) Jacobsen, Fargo, ND, Candace (Marv) Glaser, West Fargo, ND, Deborah (Gene) Freidt, Hazen, ND, Michael Esterby, Des Lacs, ND; 18 grandchildren: 26 great-grandchildren: 2 great-great grandchildren:
Sister: Astrid Vinje, Glasgow, MT; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Nora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Thelma Michelson and brother Melvin Michelson.

Visitation:  Friday, September 3, 2010 from 3-7 at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 1 pm at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot

Burial:  Saturday at 3 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
