Cora L. Erlien • 1924- 2006


Cora L. Erlien, 81, 3212 7th St SW, Minot, passed away Tuesday, May 09, 2006 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Cora L. Narum was born on November 20, 1924, east of Douglas, ND in Spring Lake Township, Ward County to Knute and Paulina (Kampen) Narum. She attended Crystal School in Rosemont Township. She was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church. She was involved in Luther League, Daughters of the Reformation Church Group, and singing
groups. She graduated from Douglas High School.

On May 6, 1945, she was united in marriage to Elmo W. Erlien at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Douglas, ND. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in Poplar Township, near Benedict. Cora taught rural school a short time and in 1966, the couple moved to Minot, where Cora worked in the dietary department and as a CNA at Trinity Nursing Home for 25 years. Elmo died October 21, 1993. Cora continued living in Minot after his death.

Cora was a charter member of the Concordia Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Ladies Aid, all of Benedict.

She loved to quilt, and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends from the Dakota Terrace apartments.

Those who shared in her life: Son: Owen (Oly) Erlien and his wife Tammy, Minot, ND; daughters Eloise Ternus and her husband Robert (Bob), Perham, MN, and Corene Moore, Minot, ND; brother: Karl Narum, Garrison, ND; sisters: Alice (Tony) Jaeger, Minot, ND, Mable (Charles) McConn, Minot, ND; seven grandchildren: Carol (Alton) Graves, Jon (Aubra) Ternus, Joseph Moore, Les (Danni) Moore, Jolyn (Corey) Stacy, Bobbie Sue Erlien, and Joe Erlien; five great-grandchildren: Caaleb, Trey and Mason Graves, Hannah Ternus, Allison Stacy: Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Cora was preceded in death by husband Elmo, parents Knute and Paulina, brother Leonard, sister Nora and infant brother Ole.

Visitation: Friday, May 12, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Benedict, ND

Burial: Bethania Lutheran Cemetery (Swedish Lutheran Cemetery), Southeast of Benedict, ND.

Memorials are preferred to the Concordia Lutheran Church, Benedict, ND.
