Martha Erickson, 90, Minot, formerly of Makoti, passed away Friday, June 13, 2008, at the Hospice of Arizona, Sun City West, AZ.

She was born August 11, 1917, and along with her brother, Wilford (deceased) was adopted by William (deceased) and Gurine (deceased) Mork. Martha grew up on a farm near Souris, North Dakota. She was active in school sports, music and drama. After graduating from Souris High School in 1935, Martha attended, and graduated from, Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Rugby, North Dakota. She was active in local, district and state Nurses Associations and was President of Peace Garden Nurses Association.

Martha met and married Bennie Bale (deceased) in 1939. They farmed near Rugby for several years. They had two daughters, Yvonne Stutrud (deceased) and Marlene Daniels. Her volunteer activities included teaching Sunday school, church organist, serving in Ladies aid and serving as President of District Women's Missionary Federation. She was also a member of the Tunbridge Home Makers.
Martha moved to Minot, North Dakota in 1969 and joined Trinity Nursing faculty. In 1972 she married Harold Grinde (deceased). Martha and Harold resided alternately in Minot, North Dakota and on a farm near Makoti, North Dakota. Martha became active in the state and national FFA organization when she met and married Don Erickson (deceased) in 1981. They enjoyed traveling extensively and headed the National FFA talent program in Kansas City, Missouri for several years.

Martha was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Makoti, North Dakota, and Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, North Dakota.

She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Daniels; grandsons Todd (Coleen) Stutrud, Richard (Laura) Koble, and Russell (Vanessa) Koble; granddaughter Tammy (Thomas) Pfeifer; great-grandchildren Callie Koble, Jordyn Pfeifer, Dylan Koble, Tristen Pfeifer, Madison Koble, Cody Koble, and Rachel Key; step-son Dane Erickson; step-daughter Debbie (Mark) Brunelle; 5 step grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Monday, June 23, at 10:00 am at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the register, Sunday from noon to 5 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Family service: Sunday at 5 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church in Minot.
