Janis D. Erickson • 1939 - 2010 Jan was born on October 15, 1939, in Plaza, ND, the daughter of Rudolph and Edna (Hauge) Hallingstad. She was raised in Plaza and attended Plaza High School. She then attended Minot Business College and worked for Minot Credit Bureau. She was once married to Alan Erickson of Carpio and they made their home on their ranch west of Carpio, where she enjoyed and was very active in showing their registered Angus cattle. She was an avid fan for her favorite teams; Notre Dame, NDSU and the Vikings. She was active in and was an officer for bowling leagues for many years. When she moved to Minot she worked for RGIS Inventory Service and the Ramada Inn until her retirement. She was very active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives and activities. She enjoyed traveling with her family and special friend Dennis. She also enjoyed keeping up on current politics and loved to read. Jan was a member of the Carpio Lutheran Church, ND Angus Auxiliary and was an avid Democrat and volunteered for the ND Democratic Party. Jan is survived by her sons, Trent (Susan) Erickson, Huron, SD, and Todd (Tammy) Erickson, Carpio; daughter, McKay Erickson, Minot; brother, Ronald Hallingstad, Idaho; sisters, Laurel (Petter) Thunshelle, Minot, LaVonne Brayson, Lucerne Valley, CA; and Sandra (Les) Feist, Clearwater, MN, and Florida; eight grandchildren, Candace Kay, Minot, Alyssa Dawn, Carpio, Bret Alan, Carpio, Casey, Huron, SD, Tracy, Huron, Jimmy Salinas, Huron, and Alexandra McKay, Huron; many nieces and nephews also survive. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Tracy Erickson; and sister-in-law, Judy Hallingstad. Funeral: Friday, December 17, 2010 at 11:00 am at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND. Visitation: Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Burial: First Lutheran Cemetery, Carpio, in the spring of 2011.
