Earl J. Erickson 1915 - 2003

Earl J. Erickson, 88, Minot, died Sunday in a Minot nursing care facility.

He was born on September 4, 1915, on his parent's farm near Hartland, ND, to Albert and Elizabeth (Birkeland) Erickson. He was raised and educated in Hartland and attended country school there. He entered the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked near Bottineau. He worked as a mechanic in Kenmare for a short time, before moving to Minot. In 1940, he went to work for Westlie Motor Company in Minot, and worked there until his retirement in 1981. He married Florence Thompson in Minot on January 18, 1941. They lived and raised their family in Minot, and remained there until the time of his death.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie, the Elks Lodge, the Shriners and the Masons, all of Minot.

(Roger) Ballew, Highmore, SD, and Linda (Mike) Beyer, Bismarck, ND; 12 grandchildren, Brenda (Greg) Symons, Carla (Randy) Shearer, Julie Hirschberger, Sebrina (Reggie) Keil, Surgay Kalamaha, Jr., Frances (Ken) Watson, Brian Ballew and friend Emina, Amy (Don) Greene, Justin (Laura) Satterfield, Jaclyn Satterfield, Chelsey Beyer and Brandon Beyer; 8 great-grandchildren, Amy Watson, Alan Symons, Austen and Brandon Shearer, Michael and Abigail Hirschberger, and Austin and Sierra Greene; brother, Marlowe (Jackie) Erickson, Minot; sister, Ila Axness, Carpio, ND; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. His parents, and two sisters, June Erickson and Alice Carlson, preceded him in death.

Funeral: Thursday, September 11, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Thompson- Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Visitation: Wednesday, September 10, 2003, from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson -Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND
