Clifford B. Erickson 1909- 2006
Clifford B. Erickson, 96, Carpio, ND, died Monday, June
26, 2006, at his home.
Clifford was born to Andrew and Maria (Nelson) Erickson in White
Ash Township. After attending White Ash School through eighth
grade, he spent a year working at Butler Bros. in Minneapolis.
Clifford returned to North Dakota to farm and married Irma Johnson
on July 21, 1937, at Carpio Lutheran Church. The first winter
of marriage, he supported them by trapping along the DesLacs
River and serving as custodian at the White Ash School. In 1946,
they purchased a ranch in Granville, ND and endured a long, hard
winter. They returned to White Ash in the spring of 1947 and
bought their farm north of Donnybrook where he served on the
Carpio School Board for 18 years. It was here they called home
for many years and raised their six children. Clifford's pride
and joy were his children, grandchildren and his Registered Angus
cattle. He was very involved with the North Dakota Angus Association
and always cherished his Angus Association friends. In 1984,
he sold his farm to his son Alan. However, Clifford continued
to help out on the farm until 1998 at the young age of 89 years.
He continued his favorite past times of playing billiards, cards,
and writing poetry. He especially enjoyed his games with the
grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his pool friends from
the Carpio and Berthold Senior Citizens.
He will be greatly missed by his loving family which includes
his wife of 68 years, Irma; son, Alan (Judy) Erickson of Carpio;
daughters, Deneen LeRoy of Oceanside, CA; Jan Fiedler (Dennis
Linnertz) of Minot, Jackie (Ed) Rieger of Winter Haven, Fla.,
