June Erfert 1912 - 2006 June Lucile Britten was born on July 7, 1912, the daughter of George R. and Laura Mae (Carter) Britten in Minot, ND. She was raised in Minot and educated at St. Leo's Catholic School. She moved with her family to St. John, ND, and graduated from St. John High School. She then attended Minot State Teachers College and she received her standard teaching certificate. She began her teaching career at Edison Elementary in Minot. She then taught in Idaho, and in Washington. She had also taught in Japan and Germany for two years with the US Dependent Schools through the US Air Force. June married Wallace C. Erfert on January 12, 1963, at Our Lady of Las Vegas in Las Vegas, NV. They made their home in California, and then in Las Vegas, NV, where June taught school. They retired in 1973, and moved to North Dakota. They made their home on a farm near Plaza, ND. They wintered in Mesa, AZ, for 27 years. They moved to Minot in 2001. She had resided at ManorCare Health Services since the summer of 2006. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. She was the first elected president and was an active member of Plaza Senior Citizens. She has been involved with music her entire life. She played the piano and was involved in a band in Mesa, AZ. She had traveled overseas to several cities, visited many shrines and had been to the Vatican on three separate occasions. She loved painting watercolors, crocheting, reading, and volunteering for RSVP of Minot. Surviving family includes: husband of 43 years, Wallace, Minot; niece, Janie (John) Reynolds, Conway, SC; and a nephew, Joseph Meeker, La Honda, CA. June was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Walter Britten; and a sister, Addie Meeker. Funeral: Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at
