Frances Mae Engh 1931 - 2004

Frances Mae Engh, 72, 1022 1st St NE, Minot, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at her home after a year battle with leukemia.

She was born on July 28, 1931, in Earhardt, MN, the daughter of George and Freda (Newman) Lee. At a young age Frances moved with her family to Palermo, ND, where she graduated from Palermo Public School in 1950.

She married Merle Marsh in Stanley, ND, in September of 1950. The couple had five children. Merle died in March of 1960. Frances married Walter Engh in May of 1965, and the couple had two children. Walter died in February of 1979. After Merle's death Frances attended Minot State College and earned her secretarial degree.

In 1965, Frances went to work at Bridgeman Creameries in Minot and later retired in 1996, after 30 years. She also worked at the Salvation Army Store and cleaned at Minot Job Services. After retiring from Bridgeman Creameries Frances volunteered for a number of years with Trinity Hospice in Minot and in 1996, she received the volunteer of the year award.

Her greatest joy in life was the close relationship she had with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her extended family. Helping and giving to others was Frances's gift here on earth.

Survivors: sons, Anthony Marsh, Velva, ND, DuWayne Marsh (Kim Mattingly), Butte, ND; daughters, Sandra (John) Hartman, Mandan, ND, Brenda (Dennis) Tetzloff, Driscoll, ND, Muriel (Gene) LeRohl, Stanley, ND, Carolyn Engh (Andy Hager), Minot, and Karen (Bryan) Davies, Stanley; 19 grandchildren, Dean Fyllesvold, Donna Sims, Derek Fyllesvold, Merle Bakken, Rachel Jackson, Brian Marsh, Aimee Gurien, Stacey Salhus, Tracey Harter, Matthew Warnke, Joseph Bruhn, Jacob Bruhn, Zachary Bruhn, Jessica DeGroat, Gabe DeGroat, Kaydee Hager, Ryder Bruhn, Layton Bruhn, and Tyler Davies; five step grandchildren, C. J. Mattingly, Ethan Mattingly, Heather Davies, Richie Marsh and Billie-Jo Naysmith; 16 great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl Lee, Williston, ND, Henry Lee, Kalispell, MT, Lawrence and Ronald Lee, Minot; sisters, Florence Johnson, Plaza and Loretta Lee, Stanley; best friends, Emma Kubesh and Virgil Dufner. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Merle Marsh and Walter Engh, her parents and two brothers, Robert and Rockie Lee.

Celebration of Life: Saturday, March 13, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot.

There will be no reviewal but friends may sign a register book: Today, Friday, March 12, 2004, from 9 .m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
