Maude A. Engeland 1906 - 2003 Maude A. Engeland, 96, 3205 10th St. SW, Apt. B12, Minot, died Friday, May 16, 2003, in her home. Maude was born December 11, 1906, on a farm near Barton, ND, the daughter of Amund and Marit (Flaaten) Engeland. In 1921, the family moved into Barton and she later graduated from Rugby High School. She went to work as a telephone switchboard operator in Towner for several years. She attended Minot State Teacher's College and received her elementary education degree. She taught elementary education at several area schools for over 23 years. She lived in Dunn Center for several years before moving to Minot in 1975. Following her retirement from teaching, Maude operated a daycare with her sister, Ruth for four years. She also worked as a housemother at the YWCA in Minot for a time. Maude had a love for people and music. She was always in a good mood and was an easy person for anyone to strike up a conversation with. . Maude was a member of the Barton Lutheran Church, Barton, ND. Survivors: Sisters, Ruth Rossow, Minot, and Mabel Granfor, Killdeer, ND; nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral: Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Visitation: Monday, May 19, 2003 from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot, and on Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. to service time. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
