Mabel Louise Eller 1907 - 2005

Mabel Louise Eller, 97, Northwood, ND, formerly of Minot, died Sunday, January 16, 2005, in the Northwood Deaconess Health Center.

Mabel was born November 10, 1907, eight miles south of Minot, the daughter to David and Pearl (Williamson) Vannett. She was raised and educated in Minot, and following her mother's death in 1921 she helped raise the family.

She married James F. Griffin in Minot in 1927, and together they had three sons, James K. born June 13, 1928, Glen E. born August 4, 1932, and Gary L. born March 24, 1941. They divorced in 1942.

Mabel married Frank A. Eller in Minot in December of 1946. Frank had three daughters, Bonnie, Joan, and Donna Ray. They moved to Great Falls, MT, in the fall of 1949. Frank, an employee of the Great Northern Railway died in March of 1956. Mabel worked at Kresge's until moving back to Minot in 1959. She worked at Dotty Dunn Hat Shop and later at S and H Green Stamp Store until she retired. Following retirement Mabel did over 7000 hours of volunteer work at Trinity Hospital. In 2001 after having a severe stroke Mabel moved to Northwood Deaconess Health Center, in Northwood, ND.

Mabel was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, and was active in the Dorcas Circle and the churches quilting group. She was a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary and the Trinity Auxiliary Gift Shop.

Those Who Shared In Her Life; Sons, James K. Griffin, Indianapolis, IN, and Gary L. Griffin, Grand Forks, ND; daughter-in-law, Lottie Jean Griffin, Minot; stepdaughters, Bonnie Hartman, Spokane, WA, and Joan Carlson, Minot; 25 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

Mabel was preceded in death by her ex-husband, James F. Griffin; husband, Frank A. Eller; son, Glen E. Griffin; grandson, Danny J. Griffin; stepdaughter, Donna Ray Tokerud; parents, David and Pearl Vannett; brothers and sisters, Clarence, Lester, Earl, Claude, Marion, Grace, Velma and Edna.

Funeral: Thursday, January 20, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday, from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
