Fred C. Eidmann 1926 - 2008 Frederick Clay Eidmann was born on October 25, 1926, the son of Fred S. and Mildred (Hales) Eidmann at the Midway Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He received his education in St. Paul. Fred worked as an apprentice at the Gopher Bake Shop in St. Paul for four years and finished as a master baker in 1944. In 1944, he moved to North Dakota to help his uncle Carl with ranching, following the death of his uncle Paul. He planned to help for only the summer months. However, the ranch life appealed to him, and in 1950, he purchased a ranch of his own. In 1952, Fred and his uncle Carl entered into partnership. On March 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to Erna Rimatzki at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot. They made their home on the ranch, before moving to Minot in 1995. He continued to help at the ranch until retiring in 2005 due to health concerns. Fred was involved in the community, he was instrumental in the organization of the Karlsruhe rural fire department, was active in the Karlsruhe school and PTA, and served on the school board for nine years. He was a member of the Norway Lutheran Church, was active on the church council and served as treasurer and later a trustee for the Norway Trust and the cemetery board. After moving to Minot they transferred their membership to Bread of Life Lutheran Church. Fred also served on the McHenry County Weed board and for the past 30 years he and Erna enjoyed square dancing at several local clubs. His loving family includes: He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Philipp, and his father and mother-in-law. Visitation: Tuesday from 2-7 at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Funeral Service: Wednesday at 10:30 at Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot Burial: Wednesday at 2:30 at the Norway Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Towner, six miles north of Karlsruhe. Memorials are preferred to the Shepherd's Hill at the Crossroads, St. John, ND, the Bread of Life Lutheran Church or the donor's choice. Officiant: Rev.
