Martha "Sis"
Eide 1928 - 2008 Martha Belgarde was born August 12, 1928 in Belcourt, ND, the daughter of John and Mary Belgarde. She was raised on the family farm near Belcourt and attended school in that area, but she was forced to quit school to help on the farm. In 1946 Martha married August Nelson and they began their family, having eight children. She cared for her children until they were of school age and then worked outside the home. She divorced August after 18 years of marriage and went to work as a cleaning maid at a local hotel. She later married Vern Eide. Following their marriage they moved to Minot where she helped manage the Red Dog Saloon and Capri Bar. Her husband Vern died in 2001. Following Vern's death, Martha worked for a Minot laundry mat and also made herself available for mending clothes for military personnel. Martha moved to the Kenmare Baptist Home in November of 2005 and recently to Trinity Homes in Minot. Martha enjoyed playing pinochle, cribbage, rummy and she enjoyed bowling. While raising her family she was often the instigator of getting baseball games going with her children and their friends. Her children said she was the most awesome cook around. Martha always felt blessed to have her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a kind person who was easy to visit with and who was always willing to help anyone if they needed it.
