Mabel Ehlke 1933 - 2005 Mabel Ehlke, 71, Flaxton, ND, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, completed her life's journey on Thursday, March 10, 2005, at a Minot hospital. Mabel Ardella Ahl was born on November 12, 1933, in Denhoff, ND, to Jacob and Helen (Grossman) Ahl. She was raised and educated in Cathay, ND and graduated from Carrington High School in 1953. She worked at the hospital in Carrington, where she met her future husband, Lavern W. Ehlke. On June 14, 1953, Mabel married Lavern Ehlke at the Baptist Church in Carrington. In 1957, they moved to Flaxton. She worked at the Kenmare Hospital as a Nurses Aide for many years. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, Flaxton, and its Ladies Aide group. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mabel cherished her time spent with her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing bingo, baking, fishing, camping and crocheting afghans for her family. Surviving family includes: husband of 51 years: Lavern of
Flaxton;sons: Dwight (Ranae) Ehlke; Bruce (Cheryl) Ehlke both
of Kenmare; and Faron Ehlke of Flaxton; daughters: Esther (Stephan)
Kaftan of Waterloo, IA; Cheryl (George) Ericson of Rothsay, MN;
and Ann (Bruce) Keyes of Williston, ND; Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Henry Edinger; three brothers; seven sisters; one special great-granddaughter, Alanna Ericson; several nieces and nephews and a very close nephew, Irvin Moser. Funeral: Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at
Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bowbells.
