Karlee Eve Edwards, 18, Powers Lake, ND, passed away in a Minot hospital on Saturday, July 7, 2007 from complications of Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Karlee Eve Edwards was born to David and Celeste (Marden) Edwards on November 26, 1988 in Stanley, ND.

She was reared and educated in Powers Lake ND where she graduated this past May as valedictorian of her senior class maintaining a 4.0 grade point average throughout her high school career and was the senior class president. She was involved in music, FFA, and many other activities and was voted homecoming queen in the fall of 2006.

Karlee's Catholic faith was a very important part of her life. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Catholic Church in Powers Lake and stayed involved with CYO classes which, in November of 2005, brought her on an exciting and faith - filled trip to Rome, Italy. March, 2007 brought Karlee a new baby sister whom she named Marah Celeste and of whom she was the proud Godmother of.

Karlee took a job at Farmers Union Oil at the age of 16 and continued to work there as her health would permit. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma on April 12, 2006 and fought a courageous battle all of these months enduring chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Many of her appointments were in Rochester, MN. By her side through every trip was her cousin (and honorary brother) Jerold Marden who served as driver and friend, providing moral support for Karlee and her parents. An other special cousin, Derrick Hysjulien, remained back home to help take care of her siblings during these appointments. Please know that she loved and appreciated you as well as all her family and friends.

Even with all she underwent Karlee would still light up a room with her beautiful smile and bubbly disposition. Although family and friends are certain that Karlee will be waiting for all of us in the bosom of our heavenly father, she will be greatly missed by all of us whose lives she has touched for these past 18 short years. As daughter, sister, cousin, and friend she has been a beacon of light, a shining star, truly "our sunshine", as dubbed by her peers.

She is survived by her parents, David and Celeste four brothers; Clifford, Nathaniel, Samuel, and Jerome: five sisters; Alicia, Alexis, Grace, Ella, and her goddaughter, Marah, and her maternal grandmother, Ruby Marden. Karlee is also survived by all of the students and teachers of the Powers Lake public school.

Karlee was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Clifford and Pearl Edwards, her maternal grandfather, Edward Marden, 2 uncles; Lyle Marden and Eric Post, and her Aunt, Angela (Marden) Hopkins.
