Hazel Earsley 1913- 2011

Hazel Earsley, 98, Minot, ND, died Sunday, September 18, 2011, at ManorCare Health Services in Minot.

Hazel Louella Christianson was born April 6, 1913, a daughter of Gilbert and Augusta (Hoveland) Christianson, in Glenburn, ND. She was raised and educated in Glenburn, graduating from Glenburn High School.

Following her high school graduation, she assisted her parents with the operation of the family farm.

Hazel married Homer J. Earsley November 8, 1936, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Glenburn. They moved to Fort Peck, MT, where they resided for five years, before moving to Minot, ND. Hazel worked at various places which included, JC Penney, City Bakery, S & L Department Store, Black Drug, White Drug, and Trinity Hospital as a nurse’s aide until retiring in 1980. Homer passed away in 1971. Following her husbands death, Hazel continued to reside in Minot.

She was a former member of First Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church, as well as the V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Moose Lodge, Eagles Aerie, Elkette’s, Sons of Norway, all of Minot.

Surviving family includes:  sons, Wes (Barbara) Earsley, Tacoma, WA, and Monroe Earsley, Tyler, Texas; daughter-in-law, Connie Earsley, Tacoma, WA, eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;  4 great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sylvia Christianson, Minot; and several nieces and nephews.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer; son, Jerome; brothers, Chris, Alfred, Einar, Arthur, and Helmer; sisters, Gladys Vedquam and Mabel Olson; and an infant sister, Margot Christianson.

Graveside Service:  Friday, September 23, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: 
Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
