Evelyn L. Dufner 1928 - 2008 Evelyn Luverne Oss was born April 22, 1928 in Parshall, ND, the daughter of Ole and Clara (Gulestol) Oss. She was raised in that area and graduated from Parshall High School as Valedictorian of her graduating class. Following graduation Evelyn attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN for one year. She then attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo, ND, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. Evelyn did her practicum at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and later worked at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, before moving to Minot. On January 5, 1953 Evelyn married Albin Dufner at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where they raised their family, but also maintained farming interests on Evelyn's parent's farm 11 miles south of Parshall. Evelyn also worked several years as a registered nurse at Trinity Hospital. Family was very important to Evelyn and her children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren were Evelyn was a charter member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot and was a member of the Altar Society. She was also a St. Luke's Alumni member. Those who shared in her life: Loving husband of 55 years, Albin, Minot, ND; children, Connie (Darrell) Orth, Minot, ND, Janet Gladback, LaFayette, LA, Mary Dufner, Fargo, ND, Peggy (Lee) Pemberton, Hallock, MN, Craig Dufner, Kevin Dufner and Julie (Steve) Filler, all of Minot; 15 grandchildren, Jeremy (Lisa) Orth, Cedar Falls, IA, Justin Orth, Minot, Eric Gladback, Henderson, CO, Joshua Gladback, Minot, Sarah (Julio) Sotillo, Plymouth, MN, Jonathan (Sayaka) Lenzmeier, Chiba, Japan, Timothy Lenzmeier, Fargo, ND, Meghan Lenzmeier, Fargo, ND, Kate Pemberton, Fargo, ND, Jake Pemberton, Santa Cruz, CA, Danny Pemberton, Grand Forks, ND, Amber (Jason) Gomez, Manvel, ND, Christopher Filler, Moorhead, MN, Jennifer Filler and Brooklyn Filler, both in Minot; five great-grandchildren, Emma and Paige Orth, Mia Sotillo, Jordyn and Greyson Gomez; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Clara Oss; brother, Arthur Oss and sister, Mathilda Oss. Funeral: Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Visitation and vigil prayer service: Visitation will be Wednesday, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the vigil prayer service at 8:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. Memorials are preferred to Our Lady of Grace Food Pantry or Trinity Hospice, both in Minot.
