Twila Drabus 1926 - 2008

Twila Drabus, 81, Kenmare, ND, passed away Friday, July 11, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

Twila L. Anderson was born August 27, 1926, a daughter of Olaf and Esther (Westby) Anderson on the family farm near Coulee, ND. She was raised and educated in Kenmare. She then attended Minot Teachers College where she received her Standard Teaching Certificate.

Twila married Lawrence Drabus August 5, 1950, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Coulee. They made their home in Kenmare. She taught at Home School in Sidonia Township, in Crow Foot Township, and at a country school in Coulee. She retired from teaching after her second daughter, Julie was born. In the late 1970's, she and Lawrence purchased the Pure Water Business in Kenmare. They continued to own and operate it until 2008.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Kenmare, where was very active in the church activities. She was also a member of the Christian Women's Group, and was a former member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.

She enjoyed baking, gardening, traveling, reading, and visiting with her family and many friends. Coffee was always on at Twila's.

Twila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a loving, caring, kind, and thoughtful Christian lady, who loved her Lord. She had a love for life and always wanted to learn. She always put others before herself. To put it best, her family thought she was "perfect".

Surviving family includes: husband of 57 years, Lawrence, Kenmare; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Arlen Gartner, Kenmare; grandchildren, Chad Gartner (Natosha Benson), Kristen (Fred) Boger, and Melissa Gartner (Clint Voltz); great-granddaughter, Makayla Gartner; sisters, Gloria (Morris) Lagorin, Kenmare, and Violet (John) Bodmer, Draper, Utah; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Twila was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Julie Drabus.

Funeral: Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Church of the Nazarene, Kenmare.

Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.

Visitation: Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare.
