Ruth E. Dougherty 1926- 2009

Ruth Dougherty PhotoRuth E. Dougherty, 83, Minot, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in a Minot nursing home.

Ruth Meagher was born on June 25, 1926, a daughter of John Paul and Ann M. (Tone) Meagher in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She was raised in Canada, and moved to the United States in 1946.

She lived with her grandmother in St. Paul, MN where she worked at Montgomery Wards.

On March 31, 1967, she was united in marriage to Francis “Jim” Dougherty in Phoenix, AZ. Following their marriage, they made their home in various locations throughout the United States. Francis died in 1977. Ruth then moved to Minot, where she has since resided.

Those who shared in her life:  Siblings: John Paul Meagher, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; Katherine (Joseph) Ford, Red Wing, MN; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, brother Thomas and three sisters Enid Cook, Peggy Meagher and Maureen Anderson.

Visitation: One hour prior to service time at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, October 30, 2009 at 2 pm at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot

Burial:  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
