Rose Donahue 1918 - 2002

Rose Donahue, 83, 917-5th St. NE, Minot, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002, in a Minot nursing home.

She was born Sept. 2, 1918, in Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of George Adkins Sr. and Ella Marie (Okane) Adkins. She was reared there and in Minot where the family moved in the early 1930's. She graduated from St. Leo's High School in 1936.
On May 30, 1941, she married Thomas V. Donahue at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, where they made their home. Mr. Donahue died Oct. 1, 1999.

After attending beauty school, Rose maintained a longtime career as a hair dresser. She first was employed at Alice's Beauty Shop. In the early 1960's, she opened her own shop, the Petite Beauty Shop, which she operated until she retired.

She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot, and a former member of St. Leo's and Our Lady of Grace churches. She had been active in the parent-teacher associations at St. Leo's School and Bishop Ryan High School. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and was a member and past president of St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary. She had held every office in the auxiliary and was active in the auxiliary's living tree memorial project.

Survivors: son, James, Minot; daughter, Mary Nancy Miller, Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Jeff Donahue, Nikki Miller and Harley Miller; a brother, John Adkins, Battle Lake, MN, and a sister, Ella Oakley, San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Thomas Donahue Jr., her parents, her stepmother, Florence Adkins, a brother, Father Joseph Adkins, and a sister, Sister Ignatia.

Funeral: Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Rosary Recitation: Thursday at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Visitation: Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home.
