Sheldon Dokken, 34, 707-11th Ave. NW, Minot, passed away, Sunday, December 7, 2008 at his residence due to complications of pneumonia.

Sheldon was born on January 14, 1974 in Minot, ND, the son of Duane and Sharon (Axness) Dokken. He grew up in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in May of 1992. He graduated from Minot State University May, 2000 with a bachelors degree in Information Systems. He would have finished his masters degree in information systems December 14, 2008.

Sheldon worked at Magic Internet, Minot State University, North Dakota Center for People with Disabilities as a computer programmer/analyst, and was currently employed by Trinity Health as webmaster programmer/analyst.

Sheldon loved his Lord and was active at New Life Lutheran Church as a trustee and in charge of the sound system and other technology. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Family was everything to Sheldon with a special love for his nephews, niece, and greatniece.

Sheldon was also a fishing and hunting enthusiast. He especially loved shooting clay pigeons with friends. While a student at MSU, he was proudly a member of Student Ambassadors. He was an avid supporter of the UND Sioux Hockey program, holding season tickets and proud of his Sioux jersey. He was also a supporter of MSU Beaver Sports being a Beaver Booster.

Sheldon was a member of New Life Lutheran Church, a member of the "Hat Squad", the Minot Swim Club, the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, the Rifle and Pistol Club and the National Rifle Association.

Sheldon is survived by his parents, Duane and Sharon Dokken, Minot; brothers and sisters, Shannon Dokken, Waseca, MN, Kim Dokken, Henderson, NV, and Kathy (Art) Haskins, Minot, ND. Niece and nephews, Joshua and Justin Dokken, Waseca, MN, Kori, Patrick, and Jonathan Haskins, Minot and greatniece, Gracelynne Haskins, Minot. Aunts and uncles, Rev. Charles and Linda Axness, (whom were his god-parents) , Freemont, Nebraska, John and Sue Dokken, Minot, Gail and Derald Watland, Lake Havasu, AZ. Lorraine and Dave Smith, Minot, and Charley and Ginny Reedy, Kansas City, MO. A number of cousins also survive.

Sheldon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martha and Sandy Axness, and Oliver and Lola Dokken.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at New Life Lutheran Church, Minot with Rev. Charles Axness and Lay-Pastor Gordon Olson.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND

Visitation: Friday, December 12, 2008 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Prayer Service: Friday at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to New Life Lutheran Church, Minot.
