Rueben "Doc"
Dockter 1924 - 2007 Rueben was born on February 12, 1924, the son of August and Marie (Morlang) Dockter in Max, ND. He was reared and educated in the Drake area. On October 22, 1943, he enlisted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country at Normandy, Battle of the Bulge and Northern France, receiving the WW II service medal, two Bronze Stars, two Purple Heart, campaign medal with 3 stars American, European and Middle Eastern Asia, good conduct medal, and two overseas bars. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945. Following his discharge, he returned to farming and then moved to Billings, MT, where he was a truck driver for Wyoming Butane. Rueben was united in marriage to Marjorie Hansen on June 9, 1955. They lived in Minot, where Rueben transported fuel for Behm's Propane for 31 years before retiring. During his retirement years he mowed ditches for Ward County, filled anhydrous ammonia tanks for Cenex and delivered Sunday papers for the Minot Daily News. Rueben had an excellent work ethic, along with a witty sense of humor. In September of 2007, Rueben went on the Honor Flight #2 to Washington, DC to the World War II Memorial. It was a trip of lifetime for him. He was a family man whose life revolved around his family. He was loved dearly by his family and will be greatly missed by all. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. Surviving relatives include: Wife Marjorie Dockter, Minot; daughters: Bambi (Todd Aasand) Rahn, McHenry, ND; Tamar (Cordell) Dahl, Surrey, ND; Melissa (Dan) Eggleston, Minot, Elizabeth (Shawn) Benham, Minot; good friend, Randy Nielsen, Minot; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers: Roy Dockter, Portland, OR, Erwin (Linda) Dockter, Canada, Ralph (Doris) Dockter, Vancouver, WA, Herbert Dockter, WA, Clifford (Bonnie) Dockter, WA; sisters: Deloris Bolender, Kansas City, MO; Margi (Ben) Chandler, Canada, Betty (Jerry) Larson, Voltaire, ND, Marion (Dennis) Killian, of Oregon; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Rueben was preceded in death by his parents, son Scott, grandson Tim Rahn Jr., and brother, Clarence. Visitation: Sunday, November 11, 2007 from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Funeral Service: Monday, November 12, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Minot Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot. Officiant: Rev.
