Mavis Dockter • 1934 - 2007 Mavis was born on June 4, 1934, in Greenway, SD, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Wagner) Joachim. She was reared and educated in SD and later moved to Eureka, SD. Mavis married Adam "Doc" Dockter on April 24, 1951, in Venturia. The couple made their home in Kenmare where they raised their seven children. Mavis was employed at the Kenmare Baptist Home for numerous years were she worked in dietary and assisted the nursing staff. After Adam retired the couple enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends. Mavis was very proud of the family especially all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Adam died on January 3, 2004, in Kenmare. Mavis was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church the Ladies Aide and the Royal Neighbors all of Kenmare. Survivors: daughters, Karen (Craig) Thompson, Wilton, ND, Shirley (Tom) Buechler, Bellevue, MI, Brenda (Joe) Gust, Elk River, MN, Shelly (Roger) Ness, Kenmare, and Julie (George) Andres, St. Paul, MN; son, Duane (Laurie) Dockter, Kenmare; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Viola (Willard) Tesky, Aberdeen, SD. Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Adam, son, Kortney, an infant daughter, her parents, John and Dorothy Joachim, brothers, Alvin, Walter, Herbert, and Allen Joachim, and sister, Lenora Sailer. Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare Visitation: Tuesday, November 27, 2007, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare.
