Josephine K. Dice 1921 - 2011

Josephine Dice PhotoJosephine K. (Edwardson) Dice, 90, Minot, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 2 am in a Minot hospital, following a bout with colon cancer.

Josephine Karoline  Edwardson was born on February 1, 1921, a daughter of Bernt E. and Hilda (Anderson) Edwardson in Tolgen Township, ND. Hilda named her 12 children in the order of the alphabet, Josephine was J.K. She was raised on the family farm near Des Lacs.

Following the end of her marriage to John Sand, Josephine was united in marriage to Leo Dice. They started their own business, Josephine’s Draperies, which they successfully owned and operated until retirement in 1986. In 1990, Josephine moved in with daughter Joleen, in Minot, who was also a caregiver for her for 12 years.      

She enjoyed sewing, hand embroidery, especially making dish towels. She also was an animal lover and enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels feed on the outdoor window feeders. 

Josephine was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, a past Senior Regent of the Minot Moose Lodge from 1968-1969 and a member of the Garrison House Boat Club.

Surviving relatives:
                Children: Jim (Corrine Rogers) Sand, Minot, Janet (special friend Rick) Sand, Isle, MN, Joleen Dice, Minot; ten grandchildren: twenty two great-grandchildren;
Sisters: Naoma Johnson, Minot, Pearl (Harold) Grosz, Minot, Ywaine (Clifford) Frey, Minot;
And her beloved dog Shasta; Several niece, nephews and cousins also survive.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husbands,  John Sand and Leo Dice, son Jerome Sand and two infant children at birth James and Jane.

Visitation:  Friday, February 4, 2011 from 2 until 5 pm and Saturday from 10 until service time at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 1 pm in Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Burial:  Sunset Memorial Gardens in the spring of 2011.

Officiant: Rev. Dr. Bob Edwards, Pastor, First Presbyterian Church, Minot
