Jeanice E. DeTienne 1930- 2006

Jeanice E. DeTienne, 76, 1516 Wildwood Ave., Minot, ND, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006 in a Minot Nursing Home after a battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends.

Jeanice was born April 18, 1930, in Van Hook, Mountrail County, ND, to Leonard (Bud) and Ethel (Johnson) Holst. She was raised in Van Hook and graduated from Van Hook High School in 1948.

After graduating from high school, Jeanice moved to Minot and graduated from Minot Business College.

In May of 1950, Jeanice went to work for the Federal Government, working seven years the Veteran Administration at John Moses Air Force Hospital and then 24 years for the US Social Security Office in Minot. She also worked for Struksness Construction. Jeanice retired from the federal government in 1985.

In October of 1950 she married Cleve DeTienne. They had three children.

Jeanice was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, a life-time member of Beta Sigma Phi, a social sororiety, NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees), the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary, and the Loyal Order of Moose Auxiliary. Jeanice served as treasurer of the Minot Mayor's Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities from 1986 to January of 2005.

Jeanice is survived by son, Jerome (Rhonda) DeTienne, Rowlett, TX; daughters, Jeana (Pat) Walsh, Minot and Carla (Fred) Slagle, Rangely, CO. nine grandchildren, Jesse and Jacob DeTienne, Shanda Olson, Stacy (Doug) Samuelson and Jim (Cheryl) Walsh, Mandy (Russell) Anthon, Dustin, Torie and Tessa Slagle; five great grandchildren, (Kelsey and Colton Olson, Jacob Kossan, Kaitlyn and Madison Samuelson), sisters, Shirley (Alan) Cunniff, Denver, CO and Lucille Larson, Rosholt, SD.

Jeanice was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, George Larson and her special friend, Leif Lohn.

Funeral: Thursday, August 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot

Visitation: Thursday, today, August 10, 2006 from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
