Lawrence Depute 1930 - 2008 Lawrence was born on April 27, 1930, the son of William J. and Eva (Hennessy) Depute on the family farm near Berthold, ND. He was raised and educated in the Berthold area, attending grade school in Passport Township; He worked for area farmers until he entered the service. On October 11, 1951, he enlisted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country, until his honorable discharge on September 19, 1953. Following his discharge, Lawrence attended Wahpeton State College and received a degree in auto body repair. He worked for Jim Brown, Kemper Construction and Shriock Construction companies during the summer months. During the winter months he would do auto body work. Lawrence worked for Frank Willeart Construction in Mankato, MN until 1964, when he was injured in an accident. He returned to Berthold and purchased the Fisher Blacksmith shop, retiring in 1992. Lawrence became a volunteer and drove the VA van from Stanley to the VA hospital in Fargo until January of 2008. He was an active member of the Berthold American Legion, and the St. Ann's Catholic Church. He is survived by: Brothers: Jerome Depute, Malta, MT, Daniel (Linda) Depute, Berthold, Francis (Julie) Depute, St. Paul, MN; sisters: Marcella Depute, Donna Depute, both of Minot, Gertrude Sims, Spokane, WA, Jane Depute, Jerusalem, Israel. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George, Eugene, William, sister Dolores Drangsholt and a nephew. Visitation: Monday, April 21, 2008 from noon until 5 at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, and 6-7 at the St. Ann's Catholic Church, Berthold.
