Andrew A. DeCouteau 1951 - 2010

Andrew DeCouteau PhotoAndrew A. DeCouteau, 59, Minot, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 in a Minot hospital.

Andrew was born on March 20, 1951, a son of Joseph J. and Mary Ann (Bercier) DeCouteau in Minot, ND.  He was raised and educated in Minot.

On December 29, 1970, Andrew enlisted into the US Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, AcftCrewman’s badge, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Sharpshooter Medal.  Andrew was honorably discharged on December 19, 1973.

Following his discharge, Andrew returned to Minot, where he graduated from Minot State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Accounting. He worked several years for the Coke plant and the City of Minot at the Water Treatment Plant. For the past 11 years, Andrew worked at the Burdick Job Corps Center as a cook. He was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, and the Holy Name Society, American Legion and the VFW all of Minot. He loved cooking and canning. Homemade bread and pies were his specialty. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, barbequing, reading, playing bingo, playing the lottery and pull tabs. He was an avid viewer of game shows, especially Jeopardy and Who Wants To Be A Millionare, and enjoyed listening to the Beatles.

He is survived by:  Sisters: Vicky Adams, Minot, Gerry (Jerry) Lee, Mandan, ND, Anita (Jim) Stogner, Bismarck; Aunts:  June St. Clair and Beatrice DeCouteau; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Ann , brothers Louis, Raymond, Vernon, Philip, sister Gloria Jean and brother-in-law Albert Adams.

Visitation:  Thursday, November11, 2010 from 2-6 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Rosary Recitation: Friday, November 12, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday at 11 am at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot

Burial:  Private burial will take place at Rosehill Memorial park, Minot
