Lee Deaver 1932- 2006

Lee Deaver, 73, Berthold, ND, died Thursday, July 13, 2006 in his home.

Lee was born August 3, 1932 at Tagus, ND, the son of Earl and Olive (Hawes) Deaver. As a young child they moved to a farm near Berthold where he was raised and educated, graduating from Berthold High School in 1952.

On June 23, 1953 he married Marilyn Johnson at Berthold, ND. Following their marriage they farmed for three years. Lee was drafted into the United States Army in April of 1956. He was stationed at Fort Ord, California for six months and at Schweinfurt, Germany for 18 months. He was honorably discharged in 1958 and returned to North Dakota.

Lee purchased Fisher Oil Company in 1959 and had operated Deaver Oil Company until his health forced him to retire. He also farmed the last 15 years in the Berthold area.

Lee was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold, where he served on the church council. He was a member of the Berthold School Board at the time the new school was built, and he drove school bus for a number of years. Lee was a member of the Berthold American Legion.

Survivors: Wife, Marilyn, Berthold; children, Rodney (Julie) Deaver, Laine Deaver, Mark (Sheila) Deaver, all of Berthold, and Sandra (Jonny) Johnson, Parker, CO; seven grandchildren, Bonnie (Kyle) Schepp, Cheri and Ross Deaver, Ashley, Heidi and Hayley Deaver and Hannah Johnson; brothers, Delwin (Ruth) Deaver and Allie Deaver, all of Berthold; sisters, Mildred Haugen, Williston, and Doris (Wilbur) Greenup, Berthold; sister-in-law, Judy Deaver, Berthold; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Olive Deaver, and brother, Gary Deaver; brother-in-law, Jim Haugen; nephews, Jeff Haugen and Randy Deaver.

Funeral: Monday, July 17, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold, ND.

Visitation: Saturday, July 15, 2006 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold, ND.
