Gerald Deahl 1923 - 2003

Gerald Deahl, 80, 3202 10th St SW, Minot, died, Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at a Minot nursing home.

He was born January 25, 1923, Rupert, ID, the son of Rex Eugene and Robbie Ethel (Stuart) Deahl. He was reared and educated in Idaho and Texas and graduated from Lockney High School. After graduation he attended Texas Tech University.

Gerald entered the United States Army serving during World War II. He was stationed in the Philippians and Japan before being honorably discharged in 1946. Gerald was once married to Doris Wright. After his discharge Gerald attended and graduated from the University of Idaho and then taught school at Homedale, ID. He then went to work for The Boeing Company as a manufacturing engineer.

Gerald was united in marriage to Luella Herslip on July 16, 1977, Bottineau, ND. The couple had residents in both Minot and Kent, WA. He retired from Boeing in 1982. While Gerald was in Minot he worked on various hobbies and passions. He loved woodworking, volunteering, carpentry, fishing and auctions.

Gerald was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot and the Golden Kiwanis. He was a former member of the American Legion, Elks and Eagles.

Survivors: wife, Luella, Minot; sons, Terry Deahl (Donna), Sumner, WA, David Deahl, Boney Lake, WA; daughters, Pamela (Jim) Snitily, Granite Falls, WA, Debra (John) Tinsly, Monroe, WA; step-children, Larry Herslip (Donna), Minot, ND, Bonnie James (Chirstianson), Bottineau, ND, Betty (Keith) Meyer, Hillsboro, ND, Peggy (Herb) Deck, Round Rock, TX, Scott (Kari) Herslip, Minot, ND, several grandchildren and step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Warren (Daune) Deahl, Twin Falls, ID; sisters; Neta Ash, Sequim, WA and numerous nieces and nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill Deahl and step grandson, Dustin Deck.

Funeral Service: Friday, March 28, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Thursday, March 27, 2003, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park Veterans Section, Minot.
