Hattie B. Danielson, 91, Minot, formerly of Kenmare, died Sunday, August 19, 2007, at Wintering Creek Adult Foster Care Home, Minot.

Hattie Thirsk was born August 22, 1915 in Biggar, Sask., Canada, the daughter of Frank and Ida Mae (Booth) Thirsk. She was raised and educated in Biggar, moving to Dahlton, Sask. with her family around 1934.

Hattie married Orville Danielson on June 4, 1941 in Naicam, Sask., with the Rev. Peter E. Nelson officiating. Following their marriage they homesteaded in Dahlton for five years and then purchased the general store and post office in Scrip, Sask. in 1946. In April of 1964 they purchased the San Way Ve Motel in Kenmare, ND, which they owned and operated until retirement. They continued to live in Kenmare until 2005 when they moved to Minot to an assisted living facility. Hattie and Orville were blessed with 66 years of marriage and three children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Hattie taught Sunday school and played the organ at the church while living in Scrip, Sask., and later played the organ at the Kenmare Baptist Home. She loved to curl, play cards, fish and spend time with her family. She was a member of the church circles and Birthday Club. Hattie and Orville spent many winters in Arizona.

Those who shared in her life, Loving husband of 66 years, Orville, Minot; son, Lorne (Melba) Danielson, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; daughters, Joan (Curt) Gissel, Surrey, ND, and Vivian (Mike) Demaree, Vista, CA; six grandchildren, Lisa (Brent) Harris, Darren (Michelle) Gissel, Trent (Stephanie Mann) Danielson, Chandra (Dan) Prebushewski, Ryan Demaree, and Michelle Demaree; five great-grandchildren, Blake, Benjamin, Tyler, Hunter and Amy; sister-in-law, Violet Thirsk, Moose Jaw, Sask., Canada; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ida Mae Thirsk; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (Mary) Thirsk, Ben (Ellen) Thirsk and Freddie Thirsk; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary (Olaf) Slind and Florence (Bob) Allan.

Funeral: Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND.

Visitation: Thursday, one hour prior to the service in the church.

Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
