Elwood O. Danielson 1919 - 2004

Elwood O. Danielson, 84, 2501 75th St. NW, Minot, died Sunday, February 15, 2004 in his home.

Elwood was born on November 14, 1919, on the family homestead near White Earth, ND, the son of Daniel and Olive (Valde) Danielson. He was raised in that area and attended country school. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps for a time before entering the United States Army. He served as a chief radar operator from May 26, 1942 through December 20, 1945. He was honorably discharged as sergeant from the Army and returned to North Dakota. He married Pearl Hoepfer on June 7, 1946 in Minot. They lived in the Minot area and Elwood worked as an automotive mechanic for the Minot Dodge dealerships throughout his career. He operated Speedway Motors, west of Minot, for several years before his retirement in 1981. They continued to live in the Minot area until the time of his death.

In his spare time, Elwood loved to fish at Lake Darling and Lake Sakakawea, as well as other area lakes. He was a member of the bowling league for many years.

Survivors: Wife, Pearl, Minot; two daughters, Sharon Hanson, Minot, and Diane (Warren) Stevenson, Kearney, MO; five grandchildren, Troy (Marie) LaFromboise, Scott Leathes, Daniel (Rebecca) Stevenson, April (Steve) Alnutt, and Christopher Stevenson; three great-grandchildren, Lucius and Adia LaFromboise, and Sean Alnutt. Several nieces and nephews also survive. His parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral Service: Thursday, February 19, 2004, 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Burlington, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday, February 18, 2004, from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
