Agnes Cushing • 1927 - 2009

Agnes Cushing, 82, Minot, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 in her home.

Agnes Leom was born on February 16, 1927, in Follebu, Norway, a daughter of Nekolae and Anna (Amundson) Leom. When she was a year and a half old, her family immigrated to the US and to Bonetraill, ND.

On April 11, 1947, Agnes was united in marriage to Alfred H. Cushing in Sidney, MT. They made their home and farmed in the Arnegard area until moving to Williston in 1953. In 1963 they moved to Minot where Agnes worked for Aasen Landscaping and later Magic Mile Market. Alfred died September 11, 2004.

Agnes was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Rebekahs, Odd Fellows, and Moose Lodge.

Doug) Grant, Moorhead, MN; grandchildren: Theresa Cushing, Rose (Kyle) Johnson, Charles Cushing, Vladimir Mikic, Christopher Grant, Stephanie Grant, and Michael Grant; four great-grandchildren: Kieran Harvey, Reagan Harvey, Aiden Grant and Avery Grant; daughter-in-law Marlene Hovda, and her son David, Williston
Brothers: Kenneth (Allene Thomas) Leom, St. Marie, MT; Arne (Bev) Leom, Watford City, ND;
Sisters: Norma Layton, Chester, MT, Nina Verhasselt, Sidney, MT, Sylvia (Gary) Jones, Fruit Heights, UT; sister-in-law: Lois Leom; sister-in-law Lois Leom, Plentywood, MT; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred, son Robert “Bobby” Cushing, and sister Marie Marden.

Visitation: Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from noon until 5 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Prayer Service:  Wednesday at 5 pm in the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Funeral Service: Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 10 am  at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial:  Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 3 pm at Hillside Memory Gardens, Williston, ND

Immediately following the funeral service there will be lunch and fellowship in the fellowship hall of the church.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 3 pm. There will be no formal procession.

The Cushing family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
