Ethel Rosella Csech 1915 - 2004 Ethel Rosella Csech, 88, Astoria, Oregon, formerly of Minot, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004, in an Astoria hospital. She was born on July 11, 1915, in Blaisdell, ND, a daughter
of Andrew Nelson and Ella (Anderson) Nelson. Ethel was raised
in Tagus, ND, and attended country schools around Tagus and graduated
from Tagus High School. After graduation, she moved to Astoria,
OR, and worked at Fort Stevens in the Officer's Quarters, where
is met and eventually married Joseph E. Csech. They were married
on August 17, 1938, in Longview, WA. Following her husband's
term in the service, they moved to Pennsylvania, where their
daughter, Carol, was born. They returned to Tagus, ND, and Ethel
worked as a school cook. Students and teachers loved to stop
by to sample food and visit. She was reasurer for the Tagus School
District until the school closed in 1963. Ethel became assistant
Postmaster and later Postmaster until its closure. In 1966, she
moved to Minot, and worked as house-mother for Beta Theta Sorority,
and later dorm mother at Cook Hall at Minot State University
until her retirement. After retirement, she was house-mother
for the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority for a year. Survivors: Daughter & son-in-law, Carol and Daniel Crockett, Astoria, OR; Grandson & Wife, Paul and Diana Crockett, Spokane, WA, and Granddaughter & Husband, Lesley and Craig Warren, Sitka, AK; Great-granddaughter, Kailey Crockett, Spokane, Great-grandson and Great-granddaughter, Reece Warren and Taya Warren, both of Sitka; Sister, Bernice Grant, Stanley, ND; Sister and Brother-in-law, Mabel and Harold Ennis, Minot. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph E. Csech, November 8, 1948, and a brother-in-law, Bob Grant. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, February 21, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot. Vigil Prayer Service and Rosary Recitation: Friday, February 20, 2004, 7:00 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church. Visitation: Friday, February 20, 2004, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, and continuing at the church prior to the vigil service. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
