Caley Cox 1978 - 2005

Caley Cox, 26, 607 17th St. NW, Minot, ND, and formerly of Christopher Lake, Sask., Canada, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005, in a motor vehicle accident near Fargo.

Caley Derryl Cox was born on August 3, 1978, the son of Donald and Anne (Bergen) Cox in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was raised and educated in Luseland, Sask., and Lacombe, Alberta, and Prince Albert, Sask, Canada, graduating from Carlton Comprehensive High School in 1996.

Following his graduation from high school, he played junior hockey for the Estevan Bruins and the Weyburn Red Wings, both of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, where he played on the 1998 SJHL championship team.

Caley then moved to Minot in 1999, where he attended Minot State University and was a member of the Beaver Hockey Team. He graduated from MSU in 2004, with a degree in Social Science. Currently, he was in the Master's program in Special Education at MSU.

Caley was united in marriage to Sara Philion on July 28, 2001, in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where Caley was employed by Applebees, MSU Plant Services, Menards, and most recently the Dakota Boys Ranch.

Caley enjoyed playing his guitar, skating, teaching Liam to play hockey, making people laugh, playing on his X-box play station, watching movies, and helping to make children happy. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

His loving family includes: his wife: Sara of Minot; precious son: Liam Cox of Minot; darling daughter: Mya Olsen of Saskatoon, Sask., Canada; parents: Don and Anne Cox of Christopher Lake, Sask., Canada; sister: Kim (Tom) Larocque, and their children, Gracie, Hunter and Ryder all of Saskatoon, Sask., Canada; brother: Ryan (Nadine) Cox, and their children, Logan and Danton, all of Prince Albert, Sask., Canada; grandparents: Ben and Hilda Bergen of Luseland, Sask., Canada,
and Uola Cox of Saskatoon, Sask., Canada; his "other brother" and lifelong friend, Ryan Barnes of St. Louis, MO, and of Prince Albert, Sask., Canada; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bill and Karen Philion; brother-in-law: Rick (Terri) Philion, and their children, Alex and Robbie, all of Hazen, ND; Tom (Dawn) Philion, and their children, Payton and Drew, all of Minot; sister-in-law: Lisa (Eric) Nelson, and their children, Barrett, Dane and Elise, of Eagen, MN; Julie (Matt) Conklin, and their son, Noah, all of Minot; many wonderful aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Service: Monday, January 24, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Sunday, from Noon until 4:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Public Prayer Service: Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Minot.

It was Caley's wish to not have flowers at his funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending memorials to the Liam Cox Trust Fund at First Western Bank and Trust, Minot.
