Darrell J. Coutts 1935 - 2011 Darrell James Coutts was born November 27, 1935, at Sherwood, ND, the son of James and Agnes (McCrory) Coutts. He was raised in Sherwood and Bowbells, ND. Darrell entered the United States Army on October 6, 1953, and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on October 5, 1955 and returned to North Dakota. He was once married to Cleo Hill. He married Mary K. Fredrickson on May 12, 1981. Darrell’s work experience included working construction for Peter Kiewit and Sons, Bechtold Excavating, Excavating Inc, Gratech, and he also worked several pipeline jobs for the Operation Engineers Local 49. Darrell hauled heavy equipment for Lowboy Service off and on through the years. He also hauled mobile homes for Barrett, Bud’s Mobile Home Transport, Francis’ Mobile Home Transport, and finally his own company D & M Transport which he sold and retired from in 1998. Most recently he was working for Westlie Truck Center. He enjoyed hunting, playing pool, traveling, watching Nascar and football, plus going on trips to watch the World of Outlaws races. He was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church and the Eagles Aerie #2376, both in Minot. Darrell’s loving family includes, wife of 30 years, Mary K. Coutts, Minot; children, Robert (Diane) Coutts, Goldsboro, NC; John (Mary) Coutts, Lincoln, NE; Terrie Daniels, Ramsey, MN; Lorrie Coutts, Minot, ND, and David (fiancée Lu) Coutts, Kenosha, WI; grandchildren, Chad, Lyndon, Randi, Melissa, Robby, and Linley Coutts; brother, Paul (Val) Beck, Plentywood, MT; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Ed Beck, and his in-laws, John and Catherine Birtel. Funeral: Friday, November 18, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Visitation Thursday, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
