Donald G. Cook 1917- 2011 Donald G. Cook was born July 3, 1917, a son of W.S. and Ida (Streech) Cook, on the family farm located in Rockford Township of Renville County, rural Norma, ND. He was raised and educated in the area. Don married Carol Faye Semrau October 27, 1946, in Balfour, ND. They made their home on the Cook family farm, where they raised small grains and livestock. They retired from farming in 2005 and moved to Kenmare, ND. They then moved to Minot, where they were residing at the Wellington Assisted Living for the past two and a half years. Don served as a board member of several area organizations which included: Evanger Lutheran Church, rural Norma, where he served as treasurer for a number of years; Renville County Farmers Union Board; Burke Divide Electric Co-op, where he was a Director and was awarded a plaque for 50 years of service; the Upper Souris Water Users Board; and the rural Kenmare Fire Department Board. He enjoyed working in his shop, welding and repairing machinery, woodworking, collecting toy tractors, and reading farm magazines. At one time, he enjoyed taking photographs and developing his own film. He especially enjoyed spending time with all of his family and friends. Those who shared in his life: his wife of 64 years, Carol Faye, Minot; children, Jacki (Gary) Johnson, Minot, Wanda (Robert) Schaffer, Riverdale, and Rodney (Leanne) Cook, Fargo; grandchildren, Keith (Denise) Johnson, Minot, Karen (Shane) Hannegrefs, Maryland, Julie (Erik) Haas, Minot, Rochelle Schaffer, North Carolina, Becky (Wyatt) Hanson, Bismarck, Angela (Bryan) Cantlon, Michigan, Heather (Steve) Thompson, Sherwood, and Alex Cook, Fargo; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Barrett Hannegrefs; Paige and Averie Hanson; Aiden Cantlon; and Colby Thompson; sister-in-law, Dorothy Cook, Kenmare; and numerous nieces and nephews.
