Joseph "Jerry"
J. Connole 1927 - 2003 Joseph "Jerry" J. Connole, 75, 1301 13th St NW, Minot, died Monday, April 21, 2003, in a Minneapolis Hospital. He was born May 10, 1927, in Mohall, ND, the son of William and Irene (Scofield) Connole. He was raised and educated in Mohall and graduated from St. Leo's Catholic High School, in Minot in 1945. Jerry played basketball and during his senior year at St. Leo's, his team won the state championship. Jerry entered the United States Army on November 1st, 1945, served until he was honorably discharged on October 29, 1948. He earned the rank of sergeant. After his discharge Jerry attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where he was a member of the Phi Delta Fraternity. He married Dona Rohrabacher on September 4, 1953, in Minot. The couple made their home in Mohall where Jerry sold insurance and also worked at the Citizens State Bank. In 1958, they moved to Minot where Jerry worked for First National Bank, now Wells Fargo, as an auditor and then as head cashier. He was instrumental in the design and development of the new bank building and the drive thru facility. In 1976, Jerry and Dona moved to Elbow Lake, MN where they purchased the Elbow Lake Bank. He owned and operated the bank until his retirement in 1984. Then the couple moved to Carlsbad, CA, where Jerry worked for a local bank. In 1986, they moved to Raleigh, NC, where Jerry worked for H&R Block. In 1990, they moved to Mesa, AZ, and in 1994, the couple moved back to Mohall, but kept their home in Arizona. In 1995, they moved to Minot. Jerry loved music and enjoyed singing for the church choir, weddings and in the Messiah. He could fix anything and he loved tinkering with anything mechanical. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his lake cabin on Metigoshe. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church at Minot and served on the church council. He had participated in Cursillo, was a former officer in the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Bishop Ryan High School Building Committee. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the band, Lions, Toastmasters, the Mohall Band and the Killer B Band. Survivors: wife, Dona, Minot; son, Greg Connole (Eileen), Raleigh; daughters, Terri Grimes (Bill), Plymouth, MN, and Maurya (Jim) Brown, Trumbull, CT; grandchildren, Megan and Jason Connole, Ryan and Christopher Grimes, and Spencer, Tess and Jenna Brown; brother, Patrick Connole (Carol), Mohall; sister, Jean Connole, Mohall. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Garth and Bill Connole. Immediately following the service at the church everyone is invited to join the family at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, April 26, 2003,
