Loren A. Cole 1928 - 2003 Loren A. Cole, 75, 500A 32nd Ave SW, Minot, died Sunday, October 12, 2003, at a Minot nursing home. Loren was born June 24, 1928, in Drake, ND, the son of Earl R. and Leona (Schmidt) Cole. He attended grade school in Balfour, ND, and spent his junior year in Drake Public Schools. He returned to Balfour Public School for his senior year where he graduated in 1946. He then attended Hanson mechanical school in Fargo, ND, in 1946-1947. Loren married Isabelle Eichhorn on June 29, 1950, in Balfour. He owned and operated Balfour Oil from 1941 until 1982. He was also a sub mail carrier starting in 1969, and became a regular mail carrier from June 1982 until his retirement in November of 1990. In 1991, Loren moved to Minot, and in 2001 he moved to the Trinity Nursing Home, where he has since resided. Loren was active in Boy Scouts. He was active with the Balfour City Board, Balfour Fire Chief, and drove bus for the school. He was a member of the Balfour Lutheran Church, Rural Letter Carrier, Golden "K" Kiwanis International, and the NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees). Survivors: wife, Isabelle Cole, Minot; sons, Monte (Beth) Cole, Jamestown, ND, and Shelley (Donna) Cole, Minot; three grandchildren, Ariel Cole, Minneapolis, MN Anders Cole, Jamestown and Devin Cole, Minot; brother, Muryl (Chris) Cole, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothyanne Christianson. Funeral Service: Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Nursing Home, Minot. Visitation: Tuesday, October 14, 2003, from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson funeral Home, Minot Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
