Everard J. Cochran 1905 - 2003

Everard J. Cochran, 98, Minot, died Wednesday in a Minot hospital.

He was born February 28, 1905, in Drayton Township, North Dakota, to Thomas S. and Ethel (Bellamy) Cochran. He was reared and educated in Drayton Township and graduated from high school there. He attended college in Fargo and graduated in 1928. He worked in and around the Chicago area for a time. He farmed in the Drayton area for two years and also worked for Agra Adjustment Administration and Highway Department in Cavalier. On May 25, 1943, he entered the United States Navy. He served with the Sea Bees 42 and was stationed in New Caldonia. He was honorably discharged on November 24, 1944. In 1933, he married Kathleen Ferguson. He returned to North Dakota and worked for the Soil Conservation Service for 26 years in the Minot and Kenmare areas, retiring in 1967. His wife died in April of 1960.

He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Minot and was a former member of the Mason's.

Survivors: son, Kerry Cochran, New Rochelle, New York; daughters, Jacque (George) Smith, Littleton, CO and Sharon (Jim) Nichols, Berthold, ND; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen; parents; brother Lee and sister Esther;
