LaVonne Clark, 74, Burlington, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 in a Minot nursing home.

LaVonne was born on October 14, 1934, a daughter of Alton and Blanche (Connelly) Block in Callahan Township, Renville County, ND. She was raised and educated in Carpio, graduating in 1953 from Carpio High School.

On September 22, 1954, she was united in marriage to Herb Clark in Carpio. They made their home in Burlington, ND, where LaVonne was a homemaker, raising the couple's eight children. She took a position at Behm's truck stop near Minot, where she worked as a waitress. She owned LaVonne's Kitchen in Burlington for a few years, and was co-owner of L& B Restaurant in North Hill Bowl. After selling her share of the restaurant, she worked at the Hacienda restaurant in Burlington, managing, cooking and waitressing until retirement. Most recently she worked for the Minot Hockey Boosters gaming. Even though Herb and LaVonne divorced, they remained good friends.

She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Lillian, grandchildren Lisa and Hunter, brothers Bill, Warren and a sister Lila Block.

Visitation: Monday, April 13, 2009 from noon until 7 at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 2 pm at Peace Lutheran Church, Burlington, ND

Burial: A private family burial will take place at a later time.
