Ada Marie Clark 1904 - 2002

Ada Marie Clark, 98, Minot, formerly of the Grano area, died Thursday, September 19, 2002, in a Minot nursing home.

Ada was born January 3, 1904, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of John and Mary (Soderstrom) Anderson. In 1908 she moved to North Dakota with her parents and lived in the Mouse River Valley, south of Greene, ND. She was raised and educated in that area.

On December 8, 1926, she married Roy L. Clark. After living and working on different farms they moved to the present farm west of Grano, ND, in October of 1940. Roy passed away August 8, 1941, and Ada continued to live and raise their seven children on the farm. She moved to Edgewood Vista in Minot in 1994, and then to Trinity Nursing Home in 1997, where she lived until the time of her death.

She was a former member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Greene, ND, and was a member of the ladies aid. She was a member of the Callahan Brighter Hope Homemakers Club, and served on the Callahan Township school board for a number of years. Ada served as Renville County Homemakers President, and in 1966 Ada was inducted into the Renville-Bottineau Ag Improvement Hall of Fame. Ada loved writing poetry and wrote individual poems for each of her children.

Survivors: Children, Ethel (Kenneth) Flom, Hastings, MN, Burton (Janet) Clark, Minot, Roy (Marjorie) Clark, Williston, Mavis Nass, Cando, Helen (James) Sandy, Westhope, and Harold (Carol) Clark, Sherwood. 17 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; niece, Mildred (Clayton) Arneson, Stanley; and nephew, Arvid (Jackie) Anderson, Minneapolis, MN; numerous cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Clark; an infant daughter, Gertrude Clark, a son, James Clark, her parents, John and Mary Anderson, and brother, Martin Anderson.

Funeral: Monday, September 23, 2002, 11:00 a.m., at Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Monday at 2:00 p.m., at the Grano Cemetery, Grano, ND.
