Gordon E. Christianson 1926 - 2005

Gordon E. Christianson, 79, Kenmare, ND, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2005, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Gordon Elroy Christianson was born on July 13, 1926, the son of Roy and Pearl (Harris) Christianson on the family farm, located in Spencer Township of Ward Co., rural Kenaston, North Dakota. He was raised in Kenaston and attended Kenmare High School.

He enlisted in the United States Army on February 2, 1944. He served during WWII and was awarded the Victory Medal. On November 28, 1946, he was honorably discharged.

Gordon was united in marriage to Lois Peterson on July 19, 1947, in Minot. They made their home in Kenmare, where they raised their three children. In the early 1950's, Gordon operated a gas station in Blaisdell, ND. They moved back to Kenmare in 1957 to farm with his father, Roy. He also was employed as a mechanic by Peterson Chevrolet. In the early 1960's, he went into partnership with Clifford Gleave, and together they owned and operated the Case Dealership and Repair shop.

A few years later, he devoted all of his time helping his dad with operation of the family farm. He was a well respected farmer and took pride in teaching his grandson, Kayo, the skills of farming. Lois passed away on December 8, 2003. Gordon retired from farming in 2004.

Surviving family includes: sons, Lee (DeAnn) Christianson, and Kent Christianson, all of Bakersfield, CA; and daughter, Terry (Lacy) Grubb, Battleview; 3 grandchildren, Kayo (Shelbi) Grubb, Clint Grubb, and Tyler Grubb; 3 great-grandchildren, Kinzi, Hanna, and Joston Grubb;brother, Lyle Christianson, Minot;sister, LaVerne Miller, Anchorage, AK; half-sisters and half-brother, Valorayne Frantsvog, Moorhead, MN, Gary Christianson, Diamond Bar, CA, Marilyn (Evron) Rostad, Minot, DeNae (Ron) Thompson, Lake Metigoshe, and Kathie (Joe) Bowers, Missoula, MT;
and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Roy, mother, Pearl, step-mother, Edith, and wife, Lois.

A Graveside service will be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society.
