Margaret Amanda Christensen
1913 - 2003 Margaret Amanda Christensen, 90, Kenmare, died Thursday, September 25, 2003, in the Kenmare hospital. Margaret was born March 4, 1913, on the family farm, in McLean County, seven miles north of Mercer, ND, the daughter of Martin and Christine (Kalland) Christensen. She attended country school for her first five years, then attended sixth grade in Gardena, ND, and junior and senior high school in Kenmare. Following high school she worked as a cook in Waupaca, Wisconsin for three years. She then attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Margaret worked for two years as a cook in a Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Racine, WI. She entered nurses training at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, MN in 1940, earning her Registered Nursing degree in 1943. In 1943 she began working at the Kenmare Hospital, where she worked for 36 years. Margaret was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND. Survivors: Brothers, Alvin (Viola) Christensen, Litchfield, MN, John Christensen, Kalispell, MT, David Christensen and Duane (Elaine) Christensen, all of Bemidji, MN; sisters, Ruth Nelson, Kalispell, MT, Aimee Casey, Pueblo, CO, and Elsie Broden, Libby, MT; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henry; sisters, Emma, Grace and Mary June; sister-in-law, Joyce Christensen; brothers-in-law, Martin Luther Nelson and Robert Broden. Funeral: Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND. Visitation: Monday, September 29, 2003, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, ND. Burial: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kenmare, ND.
