Mayfie Chew 1915 - 2005 Mayfie Chew, 90, Velva, formerly of Seattle, WA, died Wednesday, December 21, 2005, in a Velva care center. Mayfie C. Madsen was born May 9, 1915, the daughter of Peter and Anna Madsen, on the family farm, north of Kenmare, ND. She attended school in rural Kenmare, and in her late teen years, moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked as a nanny. On January 27, 1937, Mayfie was united in marriage to Raymond W. Chew in Minneapolis, MN. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Seattle, WA, where they made their home for over 60 years. She loved to garden and was very proud of her flowers. In June of 2001, they moved back to North Dakota, and lived in the Valley View Manor in Velva. Raymond died July 2, 2001. Following his death she entered the Souris Valley Care Center, where she resided at the time of her death. She is survived by: Nieces, Rose Adell (Ronald) Burns, Surrey, ND; Gladys (Phil) Estes, Clilnton, UT; Jean Larson, St. Paul, MN; Carol (Richard) Larson, Denver, CO; Kim Walters, Casper, WY; Deborah (Michael) Reynolds, Lanett, AL; and nephews: Marvin Madsen, Mohall; Stephen Madsen, Minot; sister-in-law, Marjorie (Price) Jones, Minneapolis, MN; brother-in-law, John Chew, and niece, Suzie Vining, Seattle, WA. Numerous great nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters; Victoria Madsen, Alice Madsen, and Elsie Johnson; brothers: Malte, Ernest, Ralph and Victor Madsen. Visitation: Tuesday, December 27, 2005 from noon until 7:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Funeral Service: Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Kenmare, ND. Burial: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kenmare.
