John G. Charles 1949 - 2008

Denise Charles, Darcy, John, Haley and Charlize O'Connor announce with great joy the acceptance of their husband, father and grandfather into eternal life on February 17, 2008. John G. Charles was 58.

John was born on May 10, 1949, in Jamestown, ND, the son of John and Marilyn (Dethloff) Charles. He was reared and educated in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1967.

John entered the United States Navy on September 24, 1967, serving during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on November 6, 1970.

John married Denise Paulson on November 19, 1970, in Aberdeen, SD. The couple moved to Jamestown where John worked for Western Gear. In 1972, they moved to Minot where John attended Minot State and was employed at Home of Economy and Sweetheart Bakery. On January 1, 1978, John went to work for Wilbur Ellis where he was currently employed as an operations manager.

John was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Minot and Minot Rifle and Pistol Club.

John loved golfing, gardening and hunting.

Survivors: wife, Denise; daughter, Darcy (John) O'Connor and their children, Haley and Charlize, all Minot; brothers, David (Bev) Charles, Bismarck, ND, Steve (Deb) Charles, Pelican Rapids, MN, Randy (Deb) Charles, Apple Valley, MN and Bob (Leslie) Charles, St. Louis Park, MN; sister, Jackie (Cal) Hillesland, Watertown, SD; step-sisters, Sharon (Jim) Zwinger, Bismarck; Judy (Wayne) Schmidt, Billings, MT and Linda Nicholson, Glendive, MT; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his dogs, Chazzi, Mocha and Boogie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

Memorial Service: Friday, February 22, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Our Redeemers Lutheran Brethern Church, Minot.

Friends may sign a register book on Thursday, February 21, 2008, from Noon until 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel.
