Clayton Oliver Charlebois
1917 - 2009 Clayton Oliver Charlebois, 91 of Albany, Oregon died Saturday at his home. Clayton was born in Minot, North Dakota to Leo P. and Alma (Jacobson) Charlebois. He was raised in Minot and graduated from St. Leo's High School in 1935. He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 - 1946 in the 227th battalion in Okinawa. He then went to work for Great Northern Railroad which later became Amtrak. Clayton was willing to try anything connected to the railroad business from inspecting and minor repairs to working with the engine crews. He retired from the railroad in 1978. Clayton married Margaret Klobes on Dec. 28, 1940, she passed away in 1960. Then on May 19, 1993 he married Marjorie Steinberger in Hawaii. Clayton enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, the outdoors, and taking drives in the country. Clayton is survived by his wife Marjorie; son Richard of Fargo, North Dakota; daughter Mary Margaret Richer of Cannon Beach; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Barbara C. Worley in 1999; step-son Mark Forgarty; and sister Virginia Gorgenes in 1987. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany.
