Leo Ceglowski • 1929 - 2007 Leo was born August 19, 1929 in Portal, ND, the son of Leo and Helen Ceglowski. He was raised in Portal and graduated from Portal High School. He attended and graduated from the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. On December 27, 1948, Leo married Violet Hansen at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bowbells. They made their home in Portal where Leo began his career as a car inspector for the Soo Line Railroad. He worked as an inspector in Portal and Harvey, ND for 40 years until his retirement in 1989. Leo and Vi farmed their entire lives in the Portal area. In September of 2001 they moved to Minot. Leo was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church in Portal, and for many years he donated his time in the maintenance of the church yard and cemetery in Portal. He served as Mayor of Portal and he also served on the Portal City Council for a number of years. While living in Minot he attended St. Leo's Catholic Church. Surviving family includes: His loving wife, Vi, Minot; son, Dave (Debbie) Ceglowski, Portal; daughter, Betty Trzpuc, Minot; grandchildren, Shane (Michelle) Barber, Pamela Ceglowski, Eric Ceglowski, Shanna (Tim) Welsch and Jeffery (Nicole) Brock; great-grandchildren, Alissa, Macee, Kaytland and Daylia; several nieces and nephews also survive. Leo was preceded in death by his son, Donald Ceglowski; son-in-law, Dennis Trzpuc, M.D.; his parents; brother, Henry Ceglowski; sisters, Agnes Martin and Katherine Benassi. Funeral: Monday, June 4, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Vigil Prayer Service: Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the church. Visitation: Monday, from 9:00 a.m. to service time in the church. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. Celebrant of the Liturgies: Father Chris B.
