Elaine B. Casper 1922- 2006


Elaine B. Casper, 84, Westhope, died Thursday, April 27, 2006 in Westhope, N. Dak.

Elaine B. Boyd was born March 18, 1922 in Big Timber, Mont., to William and Marjorie (Snyder) Boyd. She was raised on a ranch near there and graduated as class valedictorian from Sweet Grass County High School in 1940. She graduated from Eastern Montana State Normal School in Billings, Mont. in 1942. She taught in several country schools in Sweet Grass County before her marriage to Harry B. Lane on October 20, 1948 in Big Timber. They pastored churches in Harlowton, Mont., Bottineau, Lignite, and Mercer, N. Dak. Harry Lane died September 24, 1965. Elaine graduated from Minot State College in 1969. She taught school at Melville, Mont. before marrying Kenneth H. Casper on June 19, 1971 at Bozeman, Mont. They pastored churches in Salmon and Council, Ida. before retiring in 1980, to Big Timber. She was active in the Hospitality House and a member of the Crazy Mountain Retired Teachers Association. Kenneth Casper died October 3, 1999. Elaine resided in Minot from July 1998 to August 2001, when she moved to the Westhope Home.

Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Nancy Lane, Larry and Maxine Lane, Minot; daughter-in-law, Annilea Lane, Mounds View, Minn.; son-in-law, Wayland Watson, Franklin, Tex; stepson, K. Nathan Casper, Lolo, Mont.; stepdaughters, Dorothy Pior, Chinook, Wash., Sharon Joynt, Colorado Springs, Colo., Marilyn Johnson, Hoopa, Calif.; twenty-seven grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald, Bozeman, Mont.; Gordon, Big Timber, Mont.

Her parents, husbands, daughter, Judy Watson, son, Leonard B. Lane, Sr, and sister, Bernice Porter preceded her in death.

Visitation: Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Monday, May 1, 2006 at 1:00 p.m., at The West Minot Church of God, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
