Raymond W. Carlson 1918 - 2002

Raymond W. Carlson, 84, Minot, formerly of Kenmare, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002, at home in Minot.

Raymond was born April 14, 1918, on the homestead in Kandiyohi Township, Burke County, the son of Otto M. and Mabel E. (Hjort) Carlson. He was reared and educated in Kandiyohi Township and attended country school which was located just at the end of the driveway to his parents farm.

On June 1, 1951, he married Irene May Nordrum at Kenmare, ND. Following their marriage the couple made their home on the Carlson family homestead in Kandiyohi Township, Burke County, ND, where Ray was a grain and dairy farmer until 1997. Irene died January 30, 1999.

Raymond was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare, ND and a former member of the Niobe Baptist Church, Niobe, ND.

Survivors: Son, Kenneth (Colleen) Carlson, Grand Forks, ND; daughters, Anita (Loren) Hoffer, and Alice Carlson, all of Minot, and Ann Steiner, Stockton, CA; five grandchildren, Darren Hoffer, Derrick Hoffer, Ross Carlson, Claire Carlson and Devan Hoffer; brother, J.L. "Bud" (Dorothy) Carlson, Kenmare; sister, Twila (Avery) Enget, Powers Lake, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene May Carlson; son, Kermit Carlson; his parents and brother, Russell Carlson.

Funeral: Saturday, October 19, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare, ND.

Visitation: Friday, October 18, 2002, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, MINOT, and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.

Officiating: Pastor Stephen B. Koeppen

Music: "Good News Quartet" to offer special selections. Congregational hymns, "Blessed Assurance" "When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder" and "In My Heart There Rings A Melody" Pearl Nelson, organist.
