Dorothy Carlson, 79, Kenmare, ND, died Thursday, June 28, 2007 in a Kenmare hospital.

Dorothy was born on October 8, 1927, the daughter of Henry and Alma (Sigmundsiel) Peterson in Maddock, ND. She was reared and educated in the Maddock area, graduating from high school in 1945. Following her graduation, she worked at the Rugby Hospital and the Kenmare Hospital for a time.

On October 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to James L. "Bud" Carlson. The couple had four children together.

Dorothy was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Kenmare, where she loved to play piano and sing. She was also very active with the Gidoen International. She enjoyed to take trips, spend time with her grandchildren, and take care of her dogs.

She is survived by: Son, James (Faye) Carlson, Kenmare; daughter, Carole (David) Tengesdal, Tioga, ND; five grandchildren, Jessica, Melissa, and Rebecca Carlson and Mark and Samuel Tengesdal; sisters: Berniece Reese, Fergus Falls, MN; Ruby Luidahl, Maddock, ND; and Arlene Haukness, Fargo, ND and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two infant sons, Douglas and Jeffrey and one sister Gladys Bird.

Visitation: Sunday, July 1, 2007 from 2-6 at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare.

Funeral Service: Monday, July 2, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare, ND.

Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND

Memorials may be made to either the Gideons, Child Evangelism Fund or the Faith Baptist Missions Fund.
